KCK police acquire drone

The Kansas City, Kan., Police Department has recently purchased a drone, or unmanned aerial device, according to a police department spokesman.

The spokesman said a drone would give police some new advantages that previously were not available.

Those might include trying to locate missing persons, or finding a suspect in a wooded are or large open area, the spokesman said. It will have capabilities that will allow it to see at night and into vegetation areas, according to the spokesman.

“We are currently going through the proper procedures in order to safely operate our system,
the police spokesman said.
