After showers and thunderstorms to start the day early, the area is experiencing a break, but storms may return in a few hours, according to the National Weather Service.
Some of the storms today may produce locally heavy rain and gusty winds, but the risk for severe storms is low, the weather service said.
If the area receives more rain, flash flooding may be possible in low-lying areas.
A few strong storms could redevelop late tonight across the region with the possibility of locally heavy rain and large hail, according to the weather service.
From Wednesday through Friday, numerous rounds of thunderstorms are expected through the remainder of the week, the weather service said.
The highest threat for strong to severe storms appears to be both Wednesday and Thursday during the afternoon and evening hours, but much will depend on how the storms evolve earlier in the week, according to the weather service. Forecasters do not yet know details about these storms.
Today, the high will be near 81 with an east wind of 6 to 11 mph becoming south in the morning. There is a 50 percent chance of rain.
Tonight, the low will be around 68, with a south wind of7 to 11 mph. The chance of showers and thunderstorms will be 40 percent.
Wednesday, showers and storms are in the forecast. There is a 40 percent chance of rain, and the high will be near 83 with a south wind around 11 mph, according to the weather service.
Rain is possible for every day of the rest of the week, according to the forecast.
