KCK man charged with assault on LEO after Sunday incident

District Attorney Jerome A. Gorman has charged Thomas Lee Torrence, 38, of Kansas City, Kan., with seven counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, one count of aggravated assault and one count of criminal damage to property after an incident on Sunday.

According to a news release from the district attorney’s office, police were called to a home in the 8500 block of Troup in the early morning hours of Sunday, May 15.

Torrence was shot in the leg by a police officer after he aimed a shotgun at officers, according to information from the district attorney’s office. Residents reported hearing several shots.

Bond was set at $50,000. Court dates have not yet been set.

Kansas City, Kan., police investigated the case.
