Shawnee man charged in connection with fatal KCK crash

Roderick Farmer, 21, of Shawnee, Kan., has been charged with involuntary manslaughter while driving under intoxication in connection with a fatal crash in the 300 block of North James Street in Kansas City, Kan.

Farmer was charged by District Attorney Jerome A. Gorman in connection with the crash, which occurred Feb. 15, 2015.

A passenger in Farmer’s vehicle, Antoine Doran of Kansas City, Kan., died when Farmer’s vehicle left the roadway and plummeted off the James Street bridge over the Kansas River, according to a spokesman for the district attorney. Farmer was seriously injured in the crash.

Farmer was arrested and posted $50,000 surety before he was released. He is expected to appear in court on March 29.

The case was investigated by the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department.
