Entrepreneur program planned
An Entrepreneur Business Basics program will be offered from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 12, at Donnelly College event center, 608 N. 18th St., Kansas City, Kan. Kira McConico of Integrity Designs and Consulting will be the facilitator. Guest speaker will be Marquita Miller, entrepreneur and author. A panel will discuss information entrepreneurs should know. Bank to offer free tax classes
Enterprise Bank and Trust is offering free tax classes to help small business owners prepare their 2016 returns at the bank’s full service bilingual location at the Prescott Plaza, 151 S. 18th St., Kansas City, Kan. The sessions are offered on four Saturdays. The next program is March 12, and will feature an Enterprise Bank and Trust financial adviser and a local tax professionals. GOP offering workshop to help residents challenge property tax
A free workshop is being offered Saturday, March 12, to help residents learn how to successfully challenge and protest their property taxes. Sponsored by the Wyandotte County GOP, the one-hour workshops will be held at five locations across Wyandotte County. The workshops, all on Saturday:

‘Saturday by Grinter Stove’ planned today
A “Saturday by the Grinter Stove” program is planned at 11 a.m. March 12 at Grinter Place,
The program will feature history re-enactors George and Diane Bernheimer on the topic, “From Frontier Post to Thriving Community,” about Ft. Scott, Kan. The Grinter House was at the point where Moses Grinter operated a ferry across the Kansas River in the 1830s to 1860s, on a military route between Ft. Leavenworth and Ft. Scott. After the program at 11 a.m., a lunch will be served. Admission is $6 for the program, lunch and tour of Grinter Place.
Learn how marbles are made
A marble-making demonstration is scheduled from about 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 12, at Moon Marble Co. store, 600 E. Front St., Bonner Springs. A free community event is planned March 12 and 19 at the Old Quindaro Museum, 3432 N. 29th St., Kansas City, Kan. “Keeping Hope Alive” is the theme of the spring break event. Sporting KC home opener to be Saturday
Sporting Kansas City’s home opener will begin at 7:30 p.m. Saturday against the Vancouver Whitecaps FC at Children’s Mercy Park (the former Sporting Park), in Kansas City, Kan. The match will be televised live locally on KMCI-TV 38 the Spot and across the Midwest on SKCTV with coverage starting at 7 p.m. Listeners can also follow the action on Sports Radio 810 WHB (English) and La Grande 1340 AM (Spanish). There will be pregame festivities beginning at 5 p.m. Fans are encouraged to be in their seats by 7:15 p.m. for a pregame presentation.
