Danger of fire today, weather service says

There is an elevated fire weather danger this afternoon, as temperatures warmed to 71 degrees at 2 p.m. in Wyandotte County.

Relative humidity values dropped, and southwest wind picked up today. That along with dry fuels creates a danger of fire, the National Weather Service said.

Residents are asked not to have any open fires outdoors, according to the weather service.

There is a chance for light snow accumulations on Monday night and Tuesday, as a cold front moves in, according to the weather service, with light snow again possible on Thursday.
