Jury selection began Monday in Wyandotte County District Court for two defendants accused of attempted capital murder of Deputy Scott Wood.
Wood, with the Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Department, survived a shooting that happened March 4, 2015, at a Kansas City, Kan., convenience store near 44th and Shawnee Drive.
The two defendants, Cecil Meggerson and Dyron King, were also accused of four counts of aggravated robbery, two counts of aggravated battery, two counts of criminal possession of a firearm and one count of conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery.
In a separate case, jury selection also began Monday for a first-degree murder case against George Lingenfelser. He was accused in the December 2014 shooting death of Janet Billings, which occurred in the parking lot of a retail store in the 6900 block of State Avenue.
