A fire Thursday morning at a home at 1121 Ridge, Kansas City, Kan., caused about $30,000 damage, according to a spokesman for the Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, the spokesman said.
Crews arrived within 4 minutes after the alarm came in at 7:09 a.m., and saw heavy smoke coming from the two-story wood-framed residential structure, the spokesman said. The crews searched the building and confirmed that it was unoccupied.
The fire was extinguished within 20 minutes, according to the spokesman. However, a ServiceMaster Restoration by Zaba will still be needed to make sure the home is clean and structurally safe.
The estimated pre-fire value of the home was $40,000, and the estimated fire damage to the structure was $30,000, the spokesman said.
There were no smoke or fire detectors in the home, according to the Fire Department report.
