Two students in the Bonner Springs-Edwardsville Public Schools district have been chosen as winners of the Price Chopper “Bag Your Favorite Book” contest.

Jocelyn Miranda, a fourth-grader at Bonner Springs Elementary, and Ainsley Peterson, a second-grader at Delaware Ridge Elementary, were surprised with their awards at school assemblies.

Earlier in the school year, elementary and middle school students throughout the Kansas City area entered the “Bag Your Favorite Book” contest by designing an original cover of a book.

“Bag Your Favorite Book” is one of two programs under Price Chopper’s literacy initiative. This year’s contest brought in more than 9,500 entries, with nine area students chosen as winners.

In addition to the individual honor, both Bonner Springs Elementary and Delaware Ridge Elementary received $500 for their school libraries.
