Four suspects were captured near 63rd and May Lane about 4:30 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 3, after fleeing police in Kansas City, Mo.
According to a Kansas City, Mo., police spokesman, the incident started around 4:30 a.m. Sunday near 27th and Brooklyn on the Missouri side when officers observed a tan sport utility vehicle run a stoplight at a high rate of speed.
The officers tried to stop the vehicle near 31st and Brooklyn for the violation, but it refused to stop and instead ran from the officers, the spokesman stated.
The vehicle then pulled into a lot at an apartment complex near 31st and Park. One of the officers stepped out of his vehicle at this location, and the SUV turned around and drove back toward the officer, the spokesman said.
The officer, believing the driver of the vehicle was trying to run him down, fired at the vehicle, the spokesman said. The vehicle then left the area and did not stop for officers, the spokesman said.
Officers stopped the vehicle near North 63rd and May Lane in Kansas City, Kan.
Four occupants of the vehicle were eventually taken into custody, after the driver of the SUV ran on foot and was caught by officers, the spokesman said.
Drugs and guns were found in the SUV, the spokesman said.
No suspects were injured, but a Kansas City, Mo., police officer sustained a minor injury, according to the spokesman.
