Winter Carnival planned at Eisenhower Rec Center
A Winter Carnival is planned from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, at the Eisenhower Recreation Center, 901 N. 72nd St., Kansas City, Kan. The host of the event is the Unified Government Parks and Recreation Department. Toys will be collected to hand out to the first 500 children under the age of 12 attending the event. The donors will decide the price of the gift. Toys will be collected from Friday, Nov. 13, through Tuesday, Dec. 8. The event on Dec. 12 will offer games and activities for the family. Breakfast with Santa planned
Turner Recreation is planning Breakfast with Santa from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 12. The cost is $5 for those 13 and older, $4 for ages 4-12 and children under 3, free if there is a purchase of an adult plate. For information, see https://www.facebook.com/events/1518413865118888/.

Grinter Place to hold Holidays with the Arts on Dec. 12
From 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, Grinter Place will offer Holidays with the Arts. Local artists and authors will display their pictures , paintings and books available for purchase. The Kansas City Kansas Community College Orchestra is scheduled to perform while visitors tour the house and participate in a treasure hunt. The holiday gift shop will be open to browse and purchase gifts and baked goods. The Wine Barn will be the host for a wine tasting during the Holidays with the Arts, and mulled cider, cheese and crackers also will be served. The cost of attending the Dec. 12 program will be $6 per person or two for $10. The two programs are sponsored by Grinter Place and the Grinter Place Friends. Funds raised will go toward support and operation of programs for Grinter House. Santa to make appearance at Ag Hall

December events at the National Agricultural Center and Hall of Fame, 126th and State, Bonner Springs, include kids getting their pictures taken with Santa and riding the miniature train at the Ag Hall. There will be reindeer games, cookies and hot chocolate in the barn. Hours are 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 6; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 12; and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 13. Cabelas to hold blood drive

Historical bus tour planned Dec. 12
The Wyandotte County Museums and Historical Sites Bus Tour is planned from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12. Tickets are $25 per person. There will be a tour at each location. On the tour will be the Wyandotte County Museum, Strawberry Hill Museum, Quindaro Underground Railroad Museujm, Old Quindaro Museum, Grinter Place Historic Site and National Agricultural Center and Hall of Fame. Assistance offered on signing up for health insurance
Enroll Wyandotte will be at the South Branch Library, 3104 Strong Ave., Kansas City, Kan., from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, in Meeting Room A.. Assistance will be provided for health coverage for the next enrollment period.

Make ornaments and decorations
A workshop on making ornaments and decorations will be offered from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, at the West Wyandotte Library auditorium, 1737 N. 82nd, Kansas City, Kan. There will be a variety of decorations options to choose from, and those who attend will be able to take home items they make. The activity is for all ages, with various skill levels needed. Children younger than 9 must be accompanied by an adult.

Winter Scavenger Hunt planned
A Winter Scavenger Hunt is planned from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, at the Mr. and Mrs. F.L. Schlagle Environmental Library at Wyandotte County Lake Park. People may drop in between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. to join in the scavenger hunt. There will be a list of items to be found outdoors in this nature event. Hot chocolate will be available on the return to the library. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is not necessary.

Make a holiday gift box
Teens and adults may make a holiday gift box during a program from 11 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Dec. 12, at the Turner Community Library, 831 S. 55th, Kansas City, Kan. The project is limited to 15 persons ages 15 and up. Fabric is available, but participants may bring their own fabric. This project uses fabric, hot glue, sturdy ice cream containers and other items. Make a gumball machine ornament
At a children’s craft program from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, at the Main Kansas City, Kan., Public Library, 625 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kan., participants will make a petite gumball machine ornament. The program is for children ages 4 to 12. All materials are provided. Registration is required to 913-279-2216.

Christmas caroling planned
Sing some Spanish Christmas carols (Villancicos Navidenos) from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, at the South Branch Library, 3104 Strong Ave., Kansas City, Kan. The program is open to all ages. There will be music, crafts, and an appetizer. It is free and open to the public.
Strawberry Hill Museum open for holidays

Wyandotte County Museum open
The Wyandotte County Museum, 631 N. 126th St., Bonner Springs, is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays. It is closed on Sundays and holidays.
