A Nissan 370 Z was westbound on I-70 east of the Bonner Springs exit when it started to hydroplane on Monday morning, according to a Kansas Turnpike Authority trooper’s report.
The driver lost control of the vehicle and the Nissan slid off the road into the right ditch. It went down a steep embankment, hitting milepost sign 226, a Kansas Turnpike Authority fence, and trees, before coming to rest, the trooper’s report stated.
The driver, a 33-year-old Lawrence, Kan., woman, was not injured, the report stated.
A passenger in the Nissan, a 16-year-old Lawrence, Kan., girl, was injured and taken to a hospital, according to the report.
The accident occurred about 8 a.m. Nov. 30 in Wyandotte County.
