The Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and Christ the King Catholic Church choirs will hold a recital, “Love Says Welcome,” at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, at Blessed Sacrament, 2203 Parallel, Kansas City, Kan.
The Archdiocesan Choir, Sursum Corda Polyphony and the St. Michael Choir will perform a St. Cecilia Day Concert at 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, at the Cathedral of St. Peter, 409 N. 15th St., Kansas City, Kan. On the program is the Requiem, Opus 48 by Gabriel Faure and other selections of sacred music. The concert is free and open to the public.
The Annual Nativity Display will be at the Cathedral of St. Peter, Parish Center, 409 N. 15th St., Kansas City, Kan., on Dec. 6. The host of the event is the Altar Society at St. Peter.
Members of Christ the King School will participate in the 5:30 p.m. Mass for the feast of Christ the King Saturday, Nov. 21, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 3024 N. 53rd St., Kansas City, Kan. A taco bingo will be held after the 5:30 p.m. Mass on Saturday, Nov. 21, at Christ the King Church Davern Hall.
A weekly Scripture Group with Bible Sharing and Reflection, Lectio and Journaling, is offered from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesdays at Keeler Women’s Center, 2220 Central Ave., Kansas City, Kan. An Advent Retreat for Women is planned Dec. 2 at Keeler Women’s Center, 2220 Central Ave., Kansas City, Kan. “Learning to Wait: Using Advent to Deepen our Understanding of God’s Time,” is the theme of the retreat. It will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Dec. 2 at the Keeler Center. A light supper will be served from 5:45 to 6:30 p.m. Jenny Greene, pastoral minister at St. Teresa’s Academy, will lead the retreat. Open Door Baptist Church, 3033 N. 103rd Terrace, plans a Christmas cantata during the 10:30 a.m. morning service on Sunday, Dec. 13.
Risen Lamb International Church of the Nazarene, located in the Turner area of Kansas City, Kan., has announced the opening of the Risen Lamb Prayer Room and Retreat Center. On location at their church at 5301 Metropolitan Avenue, the prayer room and retreat center is open to the public for daytime retreats. All individuals or small groups seeking a quiet, sacred space to gather, pray, meditate, journal or read resources about prayer are welcome. The prayer room provides a peaceful space for solitude or can be scheduled in advance for groups of up to eight people. Guests seeking spiritual guidance may schedule a time of spiritual direction with one of the pastoral staff, and groups may inquire about scheduling a member of the pastoral team to lead or speak at a retreat.
