KCKCC blanks Labette 3-0; volleyball tournament here Friday, Saturday

Kansas City Kansas Community College will take a streak of four wins in the last five contests into the first KCKCC Invitational Volleyball Tournament Friday and Saturday.

The Lady Blue Devils’ latest win came Wednesday in the annual “Dig Pink” game supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month – a 3-0 sweep of Labette 25-21, 25-13, 25-17.

KCKCC will open the invitational tournament Friday against two nationally ranked powers – Iowa Western at 2 p.m. and Coffeyville at 6 p.m. Iowa Western is currently ranked No. 5 in Division I rankings; Coffeyville No. 14 in Division I. On Saturday, KCKCC will play Wentworth at 10 a.m. and Southwest Nebraska at 2 p.m.

Other Friday matches will pit Coffeyville vs. Wentworth at 2 p.m.; Johnson County vs. Iowa Western and Wentworth vs. Southeast at 4 p.m.; and JCCC vs. Southeast at 6 p.m. Other matches Saturday will send Iowa Western against Coffeyville, 2 p.m.; JCCC vs. Wentworth and Iowa Western vs. Southeast, 4 p.m.; and JCCC vs. Coffeyville, 6 p.m.
