Victims of I-35 double fatality accident identified

The victims of a double fatality accident Wednesday night on I-35 in the Edgerton, Kan., area, have been identified.

The accident closed I-35 for a few hours.

A 2003 Impala had been southbound on I-35 and went into the median when the driver overcorrected, the trooper’s report stated.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report, the driver and passenger were ejected from the vehicle when it rolled.

The accident was fatal to the driver and to a 6-year-old passenger.

The driver was Ashley Nicole Towner, 25, of Wellsville, Kan. The passenger was Ilana Dawn Towner, 6, of Wellsville.

The trooper’s report stated a booster car seat was in the vehicle but the child was not buckled in.
