Warmer today, storm chances decreasing

Summer-like heat, with a chance of storms and rain, are in today’s forecast from the National Weather Service.

The chance of showers and storms after 4 p.m. has decreased to 20 percent, the weather service said. A few storms are possible but are not expected to be severe.

Today’s high will be near 83, with partly sunny skies, according to the weather service. A light south southwest wind will change to west southwest 9 to 14 mph in the morning.

Tonight, expect mostly cloudy skies with a low of 56, the weather service said. There will be a 20 percent chance of rain. The wind will be from the north at 8 to 10 mph.

A cold front is moving through the area, resulting in a drop of about 15 degrees Friday.

On Friday, skies will be mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 68, according to the weather service. The wind will be from the north at 7 to 10 mph.

Friday night’s forecast is mostly clear with a low of 47, according to the weather service. The north wind at 6 mph will become calm in the evening.

On Saturday, expect sunny skies and a high of 73, the weather service said. A light south wind will become south southwest 5 to 10 mph in the morning.

Saturday night, the low will be around 57 with mostly clear skies, according to the weather service.

Sunday’s forecast is sunny and a high of 82, the weather service said.

Sunday night, there will be most clear skies, with a low of 61, according to the weather service.

The forecast for Monday, Columbus Day, is sunny, with a high near 74, the weather service said. Monday night’s forecast is a low of 48.
