T-Bones offense shut out in loss

The Kansas City T-Bones shutout Gary yesterday, and Sunday afternoon the Railcats got revenge with a 3-0 victory at the U.S. Steelyard in Gary, Ind.

Kansas City starting pitcher Bobby Doran (8-6) allowed just three hits, but issued a season high seven walks. Doran was charged with all three runs, with two being earned.

The Railcats took a 1-0 lead in the second inning, after Doran walked Jose Sermo and Alex Hernandez to lead-off the inning. Two batters later, Spencer Mahoney grounded out to Vladimir Frias, but the turn on the double-play was wild past first, and Sermo scored the opening run.

The Railcats scored two additional runs in the sixth inning to take a 3-0 lead.

The T-Bones pitching staff walked eight batters in total, and Gary allowed just two free passes.

Starlin Rodriguez was the only batter for Kansas City who reached base more than once. Rodriguez had two singles.

The T-Bones head into Monday’s final game of the season, needing a win to secure a winning season and a winning road trip.

The T-Bones (49-49) continue the final series in 2015, with a 1:10 p.m. start Monday afternoon against the Gary Southshore Railcats (44-55).
