A short standoff ended peacefully this morning on North 2nd Street when a man who was standing on a roof threatening to jump agreed to come down safely from the building.
Kansas City, Kan., police responded to an alarm call at 6:28 a.m. Sept. 6 in the 200 block of North 2nd Street, where they found the man in his 20s, a police spokesman said.
Officers set up a perimeter and allowed negotiators to respond to speak with the man, the spokesman said. After a short standoff, negotiators were able to talk the man down safely from the building, police said.
The man was unharmed and was taken to a hospital to be evaluated, police said.
