Local food vendors, such as the Cake Wars champion “The Funnel Cake Truck,” are banding together to bring a variety of food to Bishop Ward High School’s 37th annual auction on Saturday, Sept. 26. The theme of the event, taking place at the school at 708 N. 18th St., is “There’s No Place Like Ward.”

Besides The Funnel Cake Truck, guests can look forward to food from The Rieger Hotel, Blue Pot Catering, Strawberry Hill Povitica, Prime Catering, Chicago’s Turn’n 2 Barbecue, Breit’s Stein & Deli, and El Camino Real. Refreshments provided by Midwest Distributers, Clear 10 Vodka, Tapatio, and A Cup on a Hill.

Food, music and the silent auction begins at 5:30 p.m. The silent auction will include items such as an autographed Missouri Mavericks jersey with pennant and 6 tickets. The live auction will begin at 7:30 p.m. with a chance to bid on Royals tickets, a condo in Colorado or tickets to see “Wicked.”

Bishop Ward president, the Rev. Thomas Schrader, encourages the community to come out in force to support the event.

“For 107 years young people have been educated in their body, mind and spirit to serve the church, the community and the nation. Your participation is crucial to the future success of our students,” he said.

Individual tickets are $60 and sponsorship opportunities are available, call 913-371-6901 or email [email protected] for more information.
