Temperatures will continue to run above normal for this time of year through the holiday weekend, with some cooling arriving Labor Day, according to the National Weather Service.
With the cooler weather will come the chance for thunderstorms. Storms will begin creeping into the region on Sunday, with more widespread chances arriving by Monday, according to the weather service.
These storms may produce moderate to heavy rainfall but other severe weather threats currently look to remain low, the weather service said.
Today’s forecast is mostly sunny with a high near 91, the weather service said. The south wind will be from 6 to 9 mph.
Saturday’s forecast will be a repeat of Friday’s, with a heat index as high as 97, according to the weather service.
