Kansas City, Kan., police have released the name of the person who was found dead in the Kansas River on Aug. 19.
According to a police spokesman, the victim has been identified as John G. Simpson, 34, a resident of Olathe, Kan.
Officers responded at 5:05 p.m. Aug. 19 to the 5800 block of Kansas Avenue, where they located a decomposed body in the river, dead from unknown means, the spokesman said.
The case is under investigation by the Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division, which is encouraging anyone with information to call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
