The Kansas City T-Bones have announced that Royals Hall of Fame outfielder Amos Otis will be at CommunityAmerica Ballpark on Saturday, Aug. 22, in Kansas City, Kan.
Otis, one of the greatest players in Kansas City Royals history, will be throwing out a first pitch and then signing autographs during the game.
Otis, a three-time Royals Player of the Year, won three Gold Glove awards and received five All-Star nominations.
In 1970, he became the first Royal to make an All-Star Game appearance.
In his first at-bat in the 1980 World Series, Otis launched a home run, becoming just the 16thplayer to do so in his first World Series plate appearance. He hit two more home runs en route to a .478 batting average during the ’80 Series.
Saturday’s T-Bones game with Joplin begins at 7:05 p.m., with gates opening at 5:30 p.m.
Tickets are available by calling the box office at CommunityAmerica Ballpark at 913-328-5618.
