Sporting Kansas City midfielder Paulo Nagamura was named MLS Player of the Week on Tuesday for Week 24 of the 2015 regular season.
Nagamura scored the game-tying and game-winning goals in the final 10 minutes of Sporting Kansas City’s 4-3 comeback victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Saturday.
The two-goal performance was the second brace of Nagamura’s 11-year MLS career and earns the 32-year-old Brazilian his first MLS Player of the Week honor. He also led all players with an 86.67 percent passing accuracy in Saturday’s match.
A two-time MLS Cup champion, Nagamura leads Sporting Kansas City’s roster with 248 league appearances (including postseason). He has 15 goals and 19 assists in his MLS career, and is one of only five midfielders with a goal or assist in each of the past 11 MLS seasons.
The MLS Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by a panel of journalists from North American Soccer Reporters.
