Very warm and humid conditions are the primary and most widespread concern for this weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
The heat index will climb as high as 103 degrees on Saturday and Sunday in Wyandotte County, the weather service said.
Today’s forecast is mostly sunny with a high near 91, and a heat index as high as 95.
On Saturday, there is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. The high will be near 93. The winds will pick up in the afternoon, starting at 5 to 10 mph and increasing to 12 to 17 mph. The wind could gust up to 26 mph.
Thunderstorms are possible again on Sunday night, mainly along and south of I-70. The chance of precipitation is 40 percent in Wyandotte County.
