A weekly Scripture Group with Bible Sharing and Reflection, Lectio and Journaling, is offered from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesdays at Keeler Women’s Center, 2220 Central Ave., Kansas City, Kan. Our Lady of Perpetual Help, St. Rose of Lima and Our Lady and St. Rose parishes are holding a homecoming celebration Aug. 14-16. The event includes a reception, carnival, banquet and Mass. The reception is from 2 pm. to 10 p.m. Friday. Aug. 14, at Christ the King Church Davern Hall, 53rd and Leavenworth Road. A carnival will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15 on the Our Lady and St. Rose church grounds, 8th and Quindaro Boulevard. Games and food will be included. A banquet and program will include dinner at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, at the Hilton Garden Inn, 5th and Minnesota Avenue. Robinson Entertainment will be featured. The event ends with Mass at 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 16, at Our Lady and St. Rose Church, 8th and Quindaro Boulevard. A brunch in connection with the event will be held from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Family Center. Risen Lamb International Church of the Nazarene, located in the Turner area of Kansas City, Kan., has announced the opening of the Risen Lamb Prayer Room and Retreat Center. On location at their church at 5301 Metropolitan Avenue, the prayer room and retreat center is open to the public for daytime retreats. All individuals or small groups seeking a quiet, sacred space to gather, pray, meditate, journal or read resources about prayer are welcome. The prayer room provides a peaceful space for solitude or can be scheduled in advance for groups of up to eight people. Guests seeking spiritual guidance may schedule a time of spiritual direction with one of the pastoral staff, and groups may inquire about scheduling a member of the pastoral team to lead or speak at a retreat. St. John the Baptist Festival is planned at 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15 at St. John’s Catholic Club, 708 N. 4th St., in Kansas City, Kan. The event will start after the 4 p.m. Mass on Saturday at St. John’s Church. The festival will feature ethnic food including sarma, games, children’s activities, and a dance starting at 9 p.m. on the Strawberry Hill Museum grounds.

Members of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 1300 N. 18th St., will sponsor a vacation church school from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. from Monday, Aug. 3, through Thursday, Aug. 6; activities will include dinner, singing, dancing and arts and crafts. The parish will observe the tenth Sunday in Pentecost Aug. 2; the service in English will be at 10 a.m.; and in Spanish at 7 p.m.
