The Kansas City, Kan., Public Library will be the host of an exhibit of recent paintings by artist Lynn Benson from July 30-Sept. 8.
The exhibit titled “Flow.ers: Satellite Botanicals” will be on display in the gallery at the South Branch Library, 3104 Strong Ave., Kansas City, Kan.
With a focus on nature and the environment, Benson said of her work: “I am drawn to forces within the natural world and I watch how we humans affect these delicate balances. As an artist, the natural world and my concern for the environment is at the core of my subject matter.”
Her Flow.ers series of paintings takes inspiration from the meandering lines created by rivers and shorelines, as seen in historic maps as well as from satellite imagery, and reminds viewers that the various world waters are not only unique, but fragile.
