Today’s high will reach 87, and Friday’s high will be near 94, causing a heat advisory to go into effect Friday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.
The heat index is expected to reach or exceed 105 degrees on Friday and Saturday, the weather service said. The heat advisory will go from midday Friday through Saturday evening.
Isolated to scattered storms will be possible tonight, Friday and Saturday, according to the weather service.
No severe weather is expected. Heavy downpours may occur with any storm that develops, the weather service said.
On Saturday, pulse-type storms are possible, according to the weather service. Heavy downpours are possible, along with local flooding and gusty winds on Saturday.
Anyone working outdoors from 11 a.m. Friday through Saturday is advised to take extra precautions, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening, the weather service said.
Residents should drink plenty of water, wear lightweight clothing and schedule frequent rest breaks in air-conditioned rooms or shaded areas if outdoors. Anyone overcome by the heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location, and 911 should be called in an emergency.
