Warm and humid today, thunderstorms possible tonight

The heat and humidity will last one more day, according to the National Weather Service.

Heat indices this afternoon will range in the mid to upper 90s south of Route 36, with a few triple digit values possible south mainly of the Missouri River, the weather service said.

Strong to potentially severe thunderstorms will be possible tonight, primarily remaining along and south of Highway 36.

Heavy rain and flash flooding will also be possible tonight.

A flash flood watch is In effect from 7 p.m. today to 1 p.m. Friday.

Today’s high will be 94, with a heat index as high as 99. There is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 4 p.m.
