Crews rescue man from Kansas River in KCK

Water rescue crews rescued a man from the Kansas River near the Lewis and Clark Viaduct in Kansas City, Kan., today.

A spokesman for the Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department said a passerby reported seeing a man in the water this afternoon about 12 to 14 feet off the shoreline.

Rescue crews arrived within 5 minutes to search an area of the river just east of the Lewis and Clark Viaduct on the Kansas River, he said.

The crews located and rescued the man from the water, and transported him to a local hospital by emergency vehicle. Four water rescue crews and boats were involved in this effort, along with other fire equipment and emergency equipment.
