It all started back in 1962 when Minnesota Bait and Tackle opened its doors at 1124 Minnesota Ave. in Kansas City, Kan.

Anyone who likes to fish definitely knows about Minnesota Bait and Fly on Minnesota Avenue in Kansas City, Kan.

As a child I remember going there. My father would take me there as a young child. As I walked into the store fond memories of my childhood came to me.

Recently I decided to drop by and surprisingly enough it is still same place that I remember as a young child, however through the years it has grown. They still are family-owned and only have one location. They still have great customer service as I remember as a young child.

For the fisherman both young and old alike, or for a Father’s Day present, this is definitely the place to go for fishing and sporting needs. They have live bait as well.

They’re located at 1124 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kan., the telephone number is 913-371-0343 and they have a toll-free number, 800-280-0343.

  1. Do you deliver to Marion, Ks, we’d like to start getting tackle from you.
We own Last Chance Bait shop at the Marion Reservoir

  2. It is good to see a business that is alive and well on Minnesota Ave. I shopped there when it first opened. It is nice that they have been able to expand in the way that they have,

  3. After seeing this story, I did a “windshield drive-around” and found three business from the 1960s still operating in Downtown Kansas City, Kansas, under the same name and location. In addition to Minnesota Bait and Fly are Jerry Burke Travel on State Avenue and Carpet Corner, now celebrating its 50th anniversary at 9th and Minnesota in the former Ford Motor car agency site. Downtown survivors! Anyone know of others?
