Strawberry Hill Museum open on weekends
The Strawberry Hill Museum, 720 N. 4th St., Kansas City, Kan., is open on the weekends. The museum is open from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Summer Festival, June 7, to benefit Sisters, Servants of Mary
Enjoy good food and fun at the Summer Festival to benefit the charitable works of the Sisters, Servants of Mary from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 7, on the grounds of the Sisters’ Convent, 800 N. 18th St., Kansas City, Kan. Homemade tacos and tamales, Italian sausage and barbecued beef sandwiches, hot dogs, ice cream and Spanish desserts will be served. There will be games for children and booths including dolls from Mexico; various fundraisers; a variety booth; and tote bags and cookbooks for sale. The Sisters, Servants of Mary are a community of women religious who provide nursing care to persons in their homes. The Sisters offer their services at no charge to individuals or families. They are nurses and serve people throughout the Greater Kansas City metropolitan area. Car show offered June 7
On Sunday, June 7, the Dotte Spot Bar and Grill, 8123 Parallel Parkway, is sponsoring a car show will be held in the parking lot starting at 11 a.m., with the public invited to bring their cars and bikes for the free show. There is no registration fee. The bar and grill will be open during the show.

Free summer movies offered June 9 to June 11
Free family-friendly movies will be offered on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 10 a.m. at the Legends 14 Theatres in Kansas City, Kan. The free movies on June 9 to June 11 will be “Ramona and Beezus,” rated G, and “Mr. Peabody and Sherman,” rated PG. Doors open at 9 a.m., all ages may attend. Seating is limited to availability on a first-come-first-serve basis. The schedule is subject to change. Current feature films are not included in the free admission.
Women’s Chamber to meet June 10

The Leavenworth Road Association and the Unified Government Parks and Recreation Department are planning a free kids’ fishing derby June 13 at the Wyandotte County Lake kids fishing pond, 91st and Leavenworth Road. Registration is at 7 a.m. The event is from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Trophy presentation is at 11:30 a.m. There will be free goodies bags, free hot dogs and free bait. The event is for ages 3 to 15. KCK library to hold comic book convention
The Kansas City, Kan., Main Public Library, 625 Minnesota Ave., will hold the first Library-Con, a convention for local comic book fans, on June 13. Library-Con will feature four comic artists: Ande Parks, DC Comics; Jason Aaron, Marvel Comics; Dennis Hopeless, Marvel Comics; and Kyle Strahm, Image Comics. Alcott to be site for ‘Robin Hood Files’ children’s play
Alcott Arts Center, 180 S. 18th, Kansas City, Kan., will be the site for “The Robin Hood Files,” a children’s production by Phil Tuffin directed by Katie Lee. DAR chapter Medal of Honor Remembrance Service rescheduled
The Wyandot Daughters of the American Revolution Chapter’s Medal of Honor Remembrance Service originally planned at 10 a.m. June 13 at the Highland Park Cemetery, 4101 State Ave., will be rescheduled in September, according to an announcement. Three Civil War Medal of Honor recipients will be honored.
Free concert offered June 13 at Legends
The “Live at the Legends” concert series will begin at 5 p.m. Saturday, June 13, at The Legends Outlets, I-70 and I-435, Kansas City, Kan. Big Time Grain Company, a country and country rock band, will perform from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at The Legends, near the courtyard fountain area in front of the theaters. The concert is free and open to the public. Free dental clinic to be offered June 19-20 in Wyandotte County
A free dental clinic will be offered on Friday, June 19, and Saturday, June 20, in Wyandotte County. Sponsored by the Reola Grant Center, Victory Dodge and Victory Ford, the clinic will be staffed by volunteer dentists and dental staff through the PDS Serve Foundation and volunteers from the Smile Generation Network.
