Wyandotte County under a flash flood watch

While some of the predicted morning storms have missed Wyandotte County, instead hitting areas north of here, the National Weather Service says there is a possibility of more rain and flooding today and tonight.

Wyandotte County and surrounding areas are under a flash flood watch until 4 p.m. Thursday, June 4, according to the weather service.

Rainfall has left the ground saturated and as little as an inch of rain could lead to flash flooding in areas, the weather service said. This may include areas that do not normally experience flooding.

Today’s high will be near 82, according to the weather service. There is the possibility of more rain and storms around late morning and midday, forecasters said.

There is a 50 percent chance of rain tonight, the weather service said, and the low will be around 67.

Friday, the high will be near 83 and there is a 40 percent chance of rain and storms, according to the weather service.

There is the possibility of more storms redeveloping Friday afternoon and evening, according to the weather service. Hail and strong winds could be part of the storms.

Friday night, the low will be around 67, with a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, the weather service said.

For Saturday, another round of thunderstorms will be possible Saturday evening, and the forecast currently shows the most risk to be to the north and west of Wyandotte County, with no severe storms expected for Wyandotte County at this time.

Motorists are advised not to try to drive through water in streets.
