Wet Wednesday in Wyandotte County

Flash flood watch continues

Heavy rain fell Wednesday in parts of Wyandotte County. This area was near 118th and State Avenue in Wyandotte County. The National Weather Service estimated an inch of rain fell at the downtown airport today. A flash flood watch continues until 10 a.m. Thursday, June 4, in Wyandotte County and surrounding areas, according to the National Weather Service. Additional thunderstorms that are capable of producing heavy rainfall are possible late tonight, overnight, and Thursday morning, the weather service said. They may produce one to two more inches of rain. Because the ground is already saturated, that may produce flash flooding in some areas, the weather service said, including areas that do not normally experience flooding.
