Sioux City wins, 2-1, over T-Bones

The T-Bones dropped the opening game of the series with the Sioux City Explorers on Tuesday night, 2-1, at Community America Ballpark, Kansas City, Kan.

The game was tied 1-1 until the ninth inning, when Sioux City’s Brock Kjeldgaard hit a fielder’s choice and Michael Lang scored the winning run.

Blake Holovach started the game for the T-Bones and pitched five innings, giving up one run, two hits, two walks and striking out three batters. Joe Van Meter, who got the loss, pitched four innings for the T-Bones, giving up one run, four hits, no walks and striking out four.

In the first inning, Sioux City scored a run after getting a single, a stolen base, a bad throw advancing the runner to third, followed by a sacrifice fly.

The T-Bones scored in the third inning. C.J. Henry doubled to left center. Next, Vladimir Frias bunted, advancing Henry to third, and a sacrifice fly by Brian Erie allowed Henry to score.

In the sixth inning, T-Bones right fielder Nate Tenbrink was thrown out of the game after arguing about balls and strikes.
