Today only, the Kansas Lottery is offering any player who purchases $10 in Mega Millions on a single ticket a free $3 Pick 3 ticket for that night’s drawing.
The free ticket will be printed automatically and three $1 plays will be “any order” quick picks, according to a lottery spokesman.
“The Memorial Day weekend is a great time to offer players free lottery play,” said Kansas Lottery executive director Terry Presta. “Summer is synonymous with fun, and the lottery is all about creating fun and entertainment for our players. We wish everyone the best of luck with their tickets.”
The Mega Millions jackpot for May 22 is $194 million, with a cash option of $117 million.
Besides this promotion, the Kansas Lottery was to receive some other big amounts coming into the state this week.
The three applicants for the lottery gaming facility managers in the southeast Kansas gaming zone paid millions in privilege fees to the state this week to keep their applications in the running.
Each paid $5.5 million, for a total of $16.5 million, a lottery spokesman said.
The southeast area casino privilege fees were lowered to $5.5 million, significantly less than the $25 million privilege fee required for the northeast area casino applicants. The state lowered the privilege fee in order to encourage more applicants in the southeast area.
The three projects and applicants are Kansas Cross Casino and Hotel, Kansas Crossing Casino, LC, Pittsburg, Kan.; Camptown Casino, Frontenac Development LLC, Frontenac, Kan., former Camptown Greyhound Park; and Castle Rock Casino Resort, Castle Rock Casino Resort LLC, Cherokee County, Kan.
