Schlitterbahn Waterpark opens Friday

Schlitterbahn opens its season on Friday, and it will be the first full season this year for the Verruckt water slide, the world’s tallest water slide.

The Verruckt made its debut last year to worldwide attention.

Besides Verruckt, Schlitterbahn features four man-made tubing rivers including the longest tidal wave river, six tube slides and chutes, six beaches, and a hot tub with a swim-up refreshment bar. There are also 13 mini-slides for children.

The first week of this season will be the American Heroes Week at Schlitterbahn. First responders and military will receive free admission from May 22-29. Their family members will get 50 percent off as well. The park will be open through Labor Day. The hours on opening day, Friday, will be 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. On Saturday and Sunday, hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Hours on Monday, Memorial Day, are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. On Tuesday through Friday of next week, hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Hours will vary, with most starting times at 10 a.m. For information about park hours, visit the website. http://www.schlitterbahn.com/kansas-city.
