Rain, storms in forecast this week

The National Weather Service says scattered thunderstorms will remain possible this morning north of Interstate 70 before dissipating.

No severe weather is expected with the morning activity, the weather service said.

More widespread thunderstorm activity is expected late this afternoon and overnight. A few storms could be severe across northeast Kansas and portions of northern Missouri, according to the weather service.

Large hail and damaging winds will be possible with the strongest storms, the weather service said.

Today’s high will be near 82, with a south wind of 8 to 14 mph, gusting as high as 18 mph.

Tonight, expect a low of 62, with a south wind of 7 to 10 mph. The chance of rain is 20 percent tonight.

Tuesday, there will be mostly sunny skies with a high of 81. The wind will be 7 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph.

Tuesday night, there is a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. The low will be around 63 with a south southeast wind of 11 mph.

Another round of thunderstorms will be possible Wednesday and Thursday, according to the weather service. Heavy rain is possible over northwestern Missouri and northeastern Kansas through the week.

From Friday through Sunday, there is a chance of rain in the forecast.
