Final unofficial results in Wyandotte County show support for Democrats

Final unofficial results from the Wyandotte County Election office showed strong support for Democratic candidates with a large turnout of 36.67 percent.

According to one voter, there was a problem with getting the long ballots to be read by the vote counting machines. A folk or crease was preventing it from being read, but by creasing it the votes were read.

For U.S. Representative, 3rd District, incumbent Democrat Sharice Davids received 7,438 votes in Wyandotte County to challenger Amanda L. Adkins, 4,599.

In the entire 3rd District, with 53 precincts not in yet, Davids was leading by 157,103, or 55 percent, to Adkins’ 120,183, or 42 percent.

For U.S. Representative, 2nd District, Democratic challenger Patrick Schmidt received 14,142 votes in Wyandotte County to incumbent Rep. Jake LaTurner’s 6,529.

District-wide, with 259 precincts out, incumbent LaTurner had 55 percent of the vote to Schmidt’s 45.

In Wyandotte County, former Mayor Mark Holland received 20,136 votes to Republican incumbent Jerry Moran, who received 12,099.

For the U.S. Senate, Holland received 38 percent of the vote to Moran’s 500,498, with 853 precincts not reporting.

Incumbent Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly received 22,708 votes in Wyandotte County to Republican Derek Schmidt’s 9,901.

Statewide, Kelly had 51 percent to Schmidt’s 46 percent, with many precincts still out.

For state representative, 31st District, Louis Ruiz, incumbent Democrat, received 3,105 votes to Republican Dennis Grindel’s 1,117.

For state representative, 32nd District, incumbent Democrat Pam Currtis received 1,776 votes.

For state representative, 33rd District, Republican Mike Thompson received 3,248 votes to Bill Hutton’s 2,868.

For state representative, 34th District, incumbent Democrat Valdenia Winn received 2,471 votes to Republican Pepe Cabrera’s 637.

For state representative, 35th District, Democrat Marvin Robinson received 3,159 votes to Republican Sam Stillwell’s 791.

For state representative, 36th District, Democrat Lynn Melton received 4,770 votes to Republican Kevn Braun’s 2,924.

For state representative, 37th District, Democrat Melissa Oropeza received 2,870 vots to Republican Diane Whittington’s 1,801.

For the Wyandotte County portion of the State Board of Education, 1st District, Democrat Jeffrey Howards received 3,335 votes to Republican Danny Zeck’s 2,771.
