Two Unified Government standing committees are scheduled to meet tonight at City Hall, 701 N. 7th St., Kansas City, Kan.
There are housing, planning projects, the T-Bones scoreboard, a defibrillator request and Land Bank items on the agendas.
The Neighborhood and Community Development Committee will meet at 5 p.m. Jan. 5 at the fifth floor conference room, Suite 515, in City Hall.
At the NCD Committee meeting, UG officials will discuss prioritizing potential planning projects for the next three years.
Also on that agenda is an ordinance that would create a code enforcement administrative fine process.
Land Bank items also are on the committee agenda. The Neighborhood Resource Center also will present “measurable goals.”
The Economic Development and Finance Committee is scheduled to meet at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 5 on the fifth floor.
The agenda includes a request from the Fire Department to purchase 18 new defibrillators.
Also on the agenda is a $250,000 item to replace the scoreboard at CommunityAmerica ballpark, where the T-Bones play.
A 40-unit, $6.9 million housing project at 74th and Armstrong is on the agenda. The application is from Entrepreneurs Enterprises LLC for Section 42 tax credits for the Armstrong Estates Family Housing Development, according to the UG’s EDF agenda. The project would include 40 new duplex units, and a community building at 7401 Armstrong Ave., according to the agenda information. This location is a little south of State Avenue. It is a few blocks to the southwest of the Kansas City Kansas Community College entrance. Plans call for construction to start in the spring of 2015 with completion in spring of 2016.
Builders Development Corp. has an application before the UG for Section 42 tax credits for the West Village 55-plus senior independent residences housing development at 735 N. 89th St. It is an 82-unit, $10.8 million project. The project, besides the 82 units, would include a clubhouse and garden. This location is a little north of I-70, and it is to the southeast of the Chapel Hills Memorial Gardens cemetery.
Also on the EDF agenda is an ordinance adopting the revised Neighborhood Revitalization Act plan.
Several community business representatives are scheduled to appear to talk about residential housing incentives. The topic of continuing the no-cost building permits and sewer permits may be discussed.
Typically, items that are approved at the standing committee level then move on to the UG Commission level for final approval. The committee meetings are open to the public.
