Company recalls walnuts, pecans

Fisher chopped walnuts, in the 8-ounce size, and Fisher pecan cookie pieces, in 8-ounce plastic bags, have been recalled because some of the products may be contaminated with salmonella, according to a John B. Sanfilippo and Son, Inc. company announcement.

Consumers who have purchased the items with certain “best by dates” at stores in Kansas, Missouri, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas, or online, should not consume it, the company stated. The “best by dates” were Oct. 31, 2015, through Nov. 3, 2015, and can be found on the back of the package.

The item should be returned to the store of purchase for a full refund or replacement, the company stated.
