The Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department is reporting that it had to take a patient to a hospital after a cold exposure call within the last 24 hours.
The patient was a 56-year-old man who had complained of pain in his hands and feet. The call originated from 7th and Ann Avenue, the Fire Department spokesman said.
The Fire Department also handled two other calls earlier this week requiring trips to the hospital because of the cold.
With subzero wind chills during the past two days, the Fire Department is asking the public to be mindful of those less fortunate, to check on their elderly neighbors during cold weather, and to be aware of their pets’ needs during extreme cold weather, the spokesman said.
