What’s open, what’s closed

Here are a few holiday schedules for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.

Unified Government offices: Closed Thursday, Dec. 25, and will reopen on Friday, Dec. 26. Closed on New Year’s Day, Jan. 1, and will reopen on Friday, Jan. 2.

Board of Public Utilities offices: Business office closed on Thursday, Dec. 25, and Thursday, Jan. 1. Emergency service is available 24 hours a day, even when the business office is closed, at 913-573-9522 for electric, and 913-573-9622 for water.

Kansas City, Kan., Public Libraries: All public library locations will be closed Dec. 24, 25 and 26 for the winter holidays.

Trash pickup: Trash pickup by Deffenbaugh will be delayed by one day for those whose regular pickups are on Thursday, Dec. 25, and Friday, Dec. 26.

Mail service: Post offices will be closed Thursday, Dec. 25, and Thursday, Jan. 1, for the holidays. Regular lobby hours resume on Dec. 26 and Jan. 2. On Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, many post offices will shorten retail lobby hours, with some closing at noon. Regular mail delivery on Dec. 24 and Dec. 31 will not be affected. Mail at many blue collection boxes will be picked up at noon on Dec. 24 and 31. For more information, go to USPS.com.
