A homicide was reported Sunday afternoon in the 200 block of South 8th Street, according to a spokesman for the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.
Officers were sent to the area on a call about a shooting at 2:08 p.m. Sunday, the spokesman stated.
When officers arrived, they found a female in her late teens inside the residence, according to the spokesman.
She was taken to a hospital where she died from her injuries at about 7:30 p.m., the spokesman stated.
Detectives have a person of interest in custody, according to the spokesman.
The incident is under investigation by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department’s Major Case Unit, the spokesman stated.
