A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for northwestern Wyandotte County from 6:46 p.m. until 7:15 p.m. June 15, according to the National Weather Service.
The warning also applies to Leavenworth County and central Platte County.
At 6:46 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located near Tonganoxie.
This storm has a potential of 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail.
It may include hail damage to vehicles, wind damage to roofs, siding and trees, according to the weather service.
Residents should move to an interior room on the lowest floor of the building, the weather service said.
