A chance of rain and thunderstorms is in today’s forecast from the National Weather Service.

Wyandotte County has a 30 percent chance of rain today, mainly after 4 p.m., according to the weather service. Rain chances increase to 50 percent tonight.

A few storms could be strong in central Missouri, the weather service said, where hail and wind are the main threats.

Fire weather concerns will increase for Wednesday and Thursday, with dry northwesterly winds around 25 to 35 mph, according to the weather service.

Outdoor burning on Wednesday and Thursday is strongly discouraged, the weather service said.

Today, there is a 30 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms, mainly after 4 p.m., the weather service said. The skies will be cloudy, then gradually mostly sunny, with a high near 70. A south southwest wind of 7 to 14 mph will gust as high as 24 mph. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch are in the forecast.

Tonight, there is a 50 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms, mainly before 1 a.m., according to the weather service. It will be cloudy, then becoming partly cloudy, with a low of 41. A west wind of 5 to 10 mph will gust as high as 21 mph. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is possible.

Wednesday, there will be increasing clouds, with a high near 62, the weather service said. A west wind of 9 to 14 mph will gust up to 18 to 23 mph in the afternoon. Winds may gust as high as 32 mph.

Wednesday night, it will be partly cloudy, with a low of 40, according to the weather service. A west northwest wind of 11 to 20 mph will gust as high as 29 mph.

Thursday, there will be increasing clouds, with a high near 53, the weather service said. A northwest wind of 14 to 22 mph will gust as high as 33 mph.

Thursday night, it will be mostly cloudy, with a low of 34, according to the weather service.

Friday, it will be partly sunny, with a high near 49, the weather service said.

Friday night, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 29, according to the weather service.

Saturday, it will be sunny, with a high near 61, the weather service said.
