More rain in today’s forecast

More rain is in today’s forecast from the National Weather Service.

Widespread scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected throughout the afternoon, according to the weather service.

A few strong or severe thunderstorms are possible east of I-35 into central Missouri, but at this time, the forecast appears to indicate that severe storms could have moved east of Wyandotte County. Residents should pay attention to the weather reports today to follow any forecast changes.

High winds and hail could be part of the storms in the region today, according to the weather service. A tornado could be possible east of the Kansas City area.

More off-and-on rain is in the forecast for Wednesday, the weather service said.

Temperatures will cool off to a high of 42 on Wednesday, and a low around 34 on Wednesday night, according to the weather service. They will rebound to a high of 57 on Friday, before increasing to 68 on Sunday.

Today, there is a 70 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms, then rain is likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 1 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 59 with an east southeast wind of 7 to 11 mph becoming west northwest in the afternoon. Between a tenth and quarter-inch of rain is possible.

Tonight, there is a 70 percent chance of rain and possibly a thunderstorm before midnight, then a chance of rain and thunderstorms between midnight and 1 a.m., then a chance of rain after 1 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 37. A north northwest wind of 15 to 17 mph will gust as high as 32 mph. Between a quarter and half-inch of rain is possible.

Wednesday, there is a 60 percent chance of rain, mainly after 1 p.m., with a high near 42, the weather service said. A northwest wind of 17 mph will gust as high as 29 mph. Between a tenth and quarter-inch of rain is possible.

Wednesday night, there is a 40 percent chance of rain, mainly before 1 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 34 with a northwest wind of 8 to 14 mph, gusting as high as 22 mph. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is possible.

Thursday, it will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 46, the weather service said. A northwest wind of 8 to 11 mph will gust as high as 20 mph.

Thursday night, it will be partly cloudy, with a low of 34, according to the weather service.

Friday, it will be sunny, with a high near 57, the weather service said.

Friday night, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 33, according to the weather service.

Saturday, it will be sunny, with a high near 57, the weather service said.

Saturday night, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 37, according to the weather service.

Sunday, it will be sunny, with a high near 68, the weather service said.

Sunday night, it will be partly cloudy, with a low of 46, according to the weather service.

Monday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 76, the weather service said.
