A multi-vehicle accident at 9:40 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, on eastbound I-70 at I-435 resulted in injuries, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s crash log.
A Ford van was pulling off onto the right shoulder, and a Kia Soul was trying to avoid the van, the trooper’s report stated.
The Kia then struck the van, lost control and was struck by an AMG Humvee that was in the middle lane, according to the trooper’s report.
The Humvee struck and went through the barrier wall, the trooper’s report stated.
The Humvee then was struck on the side by a Toyota Corolla, which was eastbound in the left lane, according to the trooper’s report.
The driver of the Ford van, which was self-insured by the U.S. government, was a 22-year-old man from Lexington, Missouri, who had a possible injury, the report stated.
The driver of the Kia Soul, a 71-year-old woman from Kansas City, Kansas, was taken to the hospital with a possible serious injury, according to the trooper’s report.
The driver of the AMG Humvee, which was self-insured by the U.S. government, was a 21-year-old man from Kansas City, Missouri, who was taken to the hospital with a possible serious injury, the trooper’s report stated.
The driver of the Toyota Corolla, a 33-year-old man from Bonner Springs, was taken to the hospital with a possible serious injury, according to the trooper’s report.
