“Let’s Move WYCO,” a 5K color run, walk and bike, along with a free health fair and community block party, will be held Saturday, May 19, at the New Bethel Church, 745 Walker Ave., Kansas City, Kansas.
The 5K run, walk and bike event will begin at 8 a.m. The health fair will begin at 9 a.m. A kids’ dash and block party will start at 10 a.m.
The event, held by the NBC Community Development Corp., will focus on fetal and infant mortality.
The health fair, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., will include testing and resources from a number of community organizations. Planned are blood pressure, diabetes, biometrics, prostate cancer, clinical breast and dental exams.
The community block party, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., will include a lip sync battle. There will be a disc jockey. NFL Play 60 will be on hand from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Also planned are bike giveaways, inflatables, carnival games, popcorn, snowcones, basketball skills competition, kick ball, dunk tank and other events.
The event has several partners for the event, including Children’s Mercy, Shawnee Mission Health, The University of Kansas, New Birth Company, Healthy Communities Wyandotte and the Community Health Council of Wyandotte County.
