4-H shooting sports team recognized

The Wyandotte County 4-H Shooting Sports team, which recently won first place at the Daisy BB National match in Rogers, Arkansas, was recognized at the Aug. 30 Unified Government Commission meeting. The team presented a signed Daisy BB Red Ryder to Mayor David Alvey, left, at the meeting. Mayor Alvey said it was impressive to go to the Pierson Community Center and watch the shooting sports team in action. It was an inspiration to see how close the team members were, the care of the parents, and the dedication of the youth to doing something well, Mayor Alvey said. (Staff photo)
