At midnight, only 136 precincts of 628 in the 3rd District, House of Representatives contest were reporting, according to the Kansas secretary of state’s election website.
A graphic map showed that Johnson County votes were not complete. According to a note on the Johnson County election website, there were long lines at the polls today, and at midnight there were only 52 of 506 Johnson County precincts reporting.
With 136 of a total 628 precincts reporting, that means results were not in for the six Democratic 3rd District candidates for the U.S. House of Representatives.
It also is possible that the outcome of the Republican governor’s race hangs on how people in Johnson County voted, as Jeff Colyer and Kris Kobach each had 41 percent of the vote.
The apparent Democratic governor nominee will be Laura Kelly, with 51 percent of the vote.
Johnson County was using new voting machines in this election, and had some scattered problems with them this morning, according to news reports.
This story will be updated on Wednesday.
